Talked into it

I don't do weddings.  But for my sister, I do.  I shot my nieces wedding last Saturday.  My first wedding.  And I have to admit--it was super fun.  One of the reasons is because my awesome husband walked around and found awesome spots and took me there--it was like having an assistant.  The grounds were dreamy, the decor was bright and fun, the weather was dreamy, and the light . . . oh the light . . . I couldn't have ordered better light--again DREAMY.  And the couple--so tunnel visioned and happy--as it should be.  Here's my first of a few posts.

Some inspiration

I am a Math brained logical thinker always thought Art was fluff. I was never good at it. I don't even have legible handwriting. But since I discovered photography, it opened a whole world to me. That Art is so many different things and that logical linear brained people can create it too. So I have now made friends in the Arts and have just started seeing things different. Someone posted on twitter Neil Gaiman's commencement speech he gave at an Arts college. It was amazing. The part that struck me the most was this quote:

"Make YOUR art. Do the stuff only you can do. The urge starting out is to copy. And that is not a bad thing. Most of us only find our own voices after we have sounded like a lot of other people."

When I started out--I followed Tara Whitney and considered her to be "it". Then other people caught my eye and I wanted to emulate them. And I see how they inspired me. And all the time they inspired me sometimes i felt like I nailed their look, and I loved it, and sometimes it didn't feel right. But watching what they did helped me develop the eye that I have--the style that I feel is mine. So his words spoke to me.

Watch it. It's worth it.
