What do you do?

What do you do when the Park security guard tells you that you can't take pictures where you planned? Well . . you roll with it. And I'm glad he did because I never would have ventured over to where we shot these. And I LOVE the spot! This family is fun because I know them and it's the second time I've shot their family. Good times.

One time

One time I had a dream that I was this foxy.

So do you want to know what happens when you take your husband's cousin and his wife's maternity shots? Well, you get a boat load of images. And when your subject is this foxy---forget it. It took me forever to pick which photos I was going to post. Luckily I had a friend on iChat with me to help out. Just so all of the mothers out there know--this girl is 37 or so weeks pregnant in these shots. Yah-I know. So I had to post a bunch of them. I was also toying with some new colors--some bright, some more muted and artsy. Let me know what you think.

HOLIDAY PHOTO SESSIONS

All SPOT ARE FILLED!!!!!

Wow--requests for all of my slots are filled. But if you are interested---send me an e-mail, I am booking the people who requested a spot, but they are not all booked yet. I am hoping to get them all on the calendar by October 25th. It's possible some might bail which will leave an opening. So e-mail me and let me know and I'll put you on a list to be notified if an opening becomes available. Next year I'll have more openings, because I won't have a newborn. Or anyone else wanting a spot can do it in January, or Feburary or March or . . . . .

Ok, I'm booking for Holiday Photo Sessions. I actually only have a few more spots open. Being that I have a newborn, I'm limiting myself. So e-mail me and let me know if you want one of the spots, and I'll get you in my calendar.

jillcandlandphotography@gmail.com

Session fee: $150

The session will last anywhere from 1-2 hours and you'll receive a disc of 30 or so images for you to use as you wish.

I'm also throwing in an 8x10 from my professional printing company because of it's amazing clarity and colors. Other print sizes will be available to order.

Back it up

Remember the Oh so touching post that is two down from this one, that was of my husband and son? Well it got deleted from my hard drive. Don't know how or by whom but it did. GONE. I've tried recovery software, and I found it, but so far Photoshop won't recognize the images. Needless to say I sobbed and sobbed for about half an hour. So lesson learned--always back up your images. Of all of the images I have of random crap, those are the files that got deleted. Worst part, is I don't know how so I can't even blame someone, or even trace when it happened. It's a photo mystery. So I pulled out the trusty ol' camera and shot again today. It's not the same, he's not as small, but the shots were still good. Here's a sample.

Good Morning Son

One of my favorite Ben Fold Five songs is called "Still Fighting It" and it's about having a son. We are HUGE Ben Folds fans. So when I did this shoot, I thought I'd post the lyrics and add the song, at least while this is the original post. My husband always said that he didn't care if he had a son, because we have 3 girls first and he LOVES his girls. But then we had one, and he loves it. He is the best husband and dad ever---Hy I LOVE YOU. I loved this photo shoot. I went with all black and white to set a mood, that's fun to do sometimes. I'm not sure which is my favorite shot, either the first or the last. What do you think?

Good morning, son.
I am a bird
Wearing a brown polyester shirt
You want a coke?
Maybe some fries?
The roast beef combos only $9.95
Its okay, you dont have to pay
Ive got all the change

Everybody knows
It hurts to grow up
And everybody does
Its so weird to be back here
Let me tell you what
The years go on and
Were still fighting it, were still fighting it
And youre so much like me
Im sorry

Good morning, son
In twenty years from now
Maybe well both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
It was pain
Sunny days and rain
I knew youd feel the same things

Everybody knows
It sucks to grow up
And everybody does
Its so weird to be back here.
Let me tell you what
The years go on and
Were still fighting it, were still fighting it
Youll try and try and one day youll fly
Away from me

Good morning, son
I am a bird

It was pain
Sunny days and rain
I knew youd feel the same things

Everybody knows
Tt hurts to grow up
And everybody does
Its so weird to be back here.
Let me tell you what
The years go on and
Were still fighting it, were still fighting it
Oh, were still fighting it, were still fighting it

And youre so much like me
Im sorry

Glasses

I've been meaning to post these, but with a new baby and three other kids---forget it. But kids are occupied, so here I am. This girl is so cute with her glasses. She's had them for a few days and hasn't complained, until today. And she cried and cried with her big ol' magnified eyes, asking why she has to wear them everyday. Being that I'm a bit postpardum (not depressed, just emotional), I cried with her. Although, I didn't let her see that. Crap, I'm even tearing up again---lousy hormones. Anyhoodles, check out her four eyed sweetness.
