More Dinner Therapy

I just installed Photoshop CS2 and wanted to play with it. I know only a few things. It's amazing how much better pictures look with a border. I just adjusted the levels on these. That is about the extend of my knowledge. I want to start working with curves but it is a little more difficult than levels. I also like my new black background, it somehow makes the pictures look better--at least to me. I also set my iPhoto background to dark

My friend's house

These are pictures of my friend's house. She's the one who threw the Friday Night Dinner Therapy party (it used to be bunco, but we've been together so long we stopped playing and we just have a night out) Anyhow, she is very talented and can put together a room, or a party or an invitation, whatever. The girl has skills. So with her permission she let me post these pictures. I wish I could have gotten wider angles to show more, but my lens can't do that. I also didn't have a tripod and had to use really low shutter speeds so they might look a bit blurry

Friday Night Dinner Therapy

As usual our friend Cami outdid herself. That is why I thought to bring my camera. I knew I could probably get some good shots. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my tripod so the most of the pictures I took are blurry. So for the blog I picked the best however, I think one or two of these are but I wanted to show the different angles. As usual, tell me your favorite.

Look who found my mascara

We had a guy come put cultured marble in our upstairs bath so all of our baskets of stuff were on the bed. Look who disappeared for a while and then returned saying "I found that stuff you put on your eyes--are you mad?" Being that I use cheap mascara and it was old anyway--be real, how often do i really use it--I said to her "of course not" and grabbed my camera. The first shot is blurry, I took them indoors and I refuse to use a flash--I don't like the look. I think the second might be too, but I think it turned out aright. I loved that she got it across her nose, and if you look real close she actually got some on her right eyelashes.

Weekend #3 Indoor Shots

Yay my blogger is working! I've been trying to post for two days now but it would take over 20 minutes to post so I'd inevitably cancel it. Anyhow, tried to take some pictures yesterday (Friday) for my weekend shots but it started raining on us at the park and it was so cold. How can it be 80 degrees and beautiful one day then rainy, cold and 55 the next? Oh yeah--it's Arizona. So I attempted indoor pictures. It stunk though because there would be light and then it would go behind a cloud and so it was hard to get some pictures and the ones I did get were at a slower shutter speed so they were a bit blurry. So some of these pics might be a bit blurry but I thought I'd post them anyway. I also am trying to become familiar with iPhoto's editing capabilities so i just played with these.

Another photo assignment

For my class we had to take photography using our aperture priority and shutter priority modes. Anyhow, the pictures were supposed to tell about ourselves. We had to do 2 per mode. Anyhow, I had all of these grand ideas of set up pictures I wanted to do: me in a 50's dress with my hair curled and red lipstick serving my family an amazing dinner (which I actually made by the way but I was still in my sweats and t-shirt, I should have just took it-it would have been realistic), another of Hyrum running away from the Phoenix arrow that was in my last blog entry (he ended up being a bit grumpy that day so I didn't even ask), so of course none of that happened and I ended up hurrying the day before when Hyrum got home from work and we ran out to our grass area and took pictures. I hate that the condos are my background. My favorite shots are of the girl's with their feet, they didn't turn out as I planned because of the lighting so I am going to attempt them again. I also tried to post more pictures but for some reason they wouldn't post. So here are just a few

Usery Pass Family Outing

This is my first blog using my MAC, it took me a while to figure it out--but here I am. As for the Pics-Hyrum's sister and her family were in town from Provo and we went on an outing to Usery Pass. I took as many pictures as I could. These are my favorites. I acknowledge that a few aren't in focus, or they are in focus in the wrong place. I was trying to play around with my camera to become more familiar. As always, any comments, or criticism (constructive) is welcome. Also, it's fun when you all tell me your favorites.

Weekend #1

We got an semester long assignment in my photo class. We are to take pictures every weekend of whatever we choose, with no parameters. The goal is to learn our camera, and improve our composition. So by the end of the semester we are to pick 1 picture from each weekend and submit it. So here is my first weekend. We went to the park and my goal was to get some cool spinning merry-go-round shots, but the other shots turned out better. I guess I can try again next weekend. Here they are, and if you want you can tell me which shot you think I should choose and if it needs any tweaking. I tweaked most of these with Picasa.

Photo Assignment #1

I haven't posted in a while because I've been sick and haven't taken any pictures. I finally took some as part of an assignment from my photo class. Our teacher gave us a list of words and we had to pick 10 and take pictures of our interpretation of the words. We had to take 3 angles of each picture. Anyhow, I didn't like the way some of them turnd out, but I learned alot. It was all about metering--and whoa does that make my brain hurt. So here are a few . . .
