Posterity

It's been known to happen that I stay up editing photos and find myself with tears running down my cheeks. Come on, how could I not? I was able to photograph a family reunion and it was so fun. This lady's grandson is best friend's with my husband so I was comfortable being there because I knew people. How beautiful is she? There is a line in an Indigo Girl's song that says

Every lesson learned a line upon your beautiful face

That is how I feel about faces like hers, it makes me sad when I see people get plastic surgery to get rid of lines or aging. Aging is beautiful and with every age spot and line you have, you have a story to tell and that is what makes life beautiful. I asked to take a picture of her hands and she said "these ugly old things" and laughed a bit. Not ugly at all, but beautiful beyond measure. I think any child or grandchild would treasure a photo of their grandmother's hands like I've captured here. Crap, there I go crying again. Anyhow, one of my favorite shots is the one where all of her posterity are in a line behind her. How powerful of an image is that? That last photo is 5 generations . . . . 5 GENERATIONS, that's unreal. These photos show that she is more powerful, successful and valued than the wealthiest person in the world. She is the wealthiest lady in the world, in the things that matter. Enjoy.

p.s. to all of the Lesueur's who are viewing this, I will be posting more. However there are so many of you that there is NO way I can post all of you, so I will be picking at random some shots to post. So don't get your feelings hurt if I don't pick you, it wasn't intentional

wow- what a creative way to get the whole huge fam in a row. i love it.

i think i knew what you might be talking about- nicely put.

i wanted to cry at a wedding i did for a couple that was moving to another country away from his kids and their friends and family. It was like bitter sweetness in the air and it was a treasure to capture it as an outsider and be a fly on the wall for their special day.
