We went to Roosevelt Lake (Strawberry pronounces it rozabelt, I think it's too cute to correct) this weekend with my family. They have a different spring break than here, so we stayed from Friday-Wednesday. Fun, but got cold and windy--then not so fun. I got some pretty fun shots though. Still having fun with my actions--need more. My teacher told us to try shooting "from the hip" not looking through our cameras, just taking shots. This first one is of Kizzy sitting between my legs with my sundress on. I just dropped my camera down and took some--I thought it turned out pretty good. Let me know what you think--honestly--I can take it. A bit of constructive criticism is good, feel free to let me have it.
WHEW!! AND HOORAY!! Last night I spilled water on my keyboard and it somewhat worked at first except the CAPS lock was stuck, then the ~ button got stuck and was just nonstop all over the screen, then the whole thing stopped working. We unplugged it and left it off all night and then Hy tried it this morning and he told me the bad news-still broken. So I was going to attempt to call MAC and ask if we could return it or suck it up and buy a new one. I totally lost sleep over it. Then I came up here to clean our room and thought--just check. And here I am . . . tada!!! You have no idea the relief. Anyhow, I can finally post more pictures of the newborn shoot. I loved doing it, but I realized about 3/4 of the way through how to actually do it right. Good thing for photoshop to fix my exposures. I also realized why all baby shot are in black and white. Their little skin is so blotchy and red, but looks perfecto in black and white--lesson learned. Although I do think some of these colors are pretty cute. As per usual--vote.
I did my first baby shoot. It was much more difficult than I thought, but also much easier than I thought--obviously for different reasons. I have so many pictures I want to blog, but I need to Photoshop them first. Lindsey, the mom in these photos is so gorgeous so it was easy putting her in the photos and I wish I would have known more to do with her, but what we have I love. So check these out and vote on which is your favorite and why, and also if you would have rather seen it in color or black and white. Hyrum and I were going over the images we couldn't decide which one of these to post, so I decided to post all of them and put it to a vote.
First of all, I'd like to say welcome back to myself because I have been trying to blog for two days now and Blogger was having difficulty with my browser. Anyhow--on to my love. I saw this dress and HAD to have it. Target always has cute stuff but every once in a while there is something I must have. This dress was it. I tracked it down and found it at a Target in Gilbert. The beauty of living here is the amount of Target Stores we have. I wanted it for Strawberry because I thought it would be gorgeous with her hair, but they only made it up to 24 months size. But now that I see it on baby Chocolat, I'm glad she is the one it fit.
I've never taken any photos using a background before. So today I went to SAS Fabrics by the Pound and purchased a few. I told the girls they'd get a frozen treat if they took pictures. Bribing them is the only thing that works. Annabelle was being a ham--that never happens. And Josie kept getting closer and closer to me and I couldn't ever get a good still picture of her. I had low lighting so again, I had to shoot at slow shutter speeds, but I got some good shots. Then as I was editing my photos on my giant screen I noticed a lot of noise. So I checked my camera--I was at ISO 640 . . .???? I really need to reset my camera each time I use it. Too late. Oh well, that is the beauty of learning. So here are my girls. Notice that little chocolate is missing--she was too busy, I couldn't get a still shot of her so I didn't even really try. (I"ve decided to refer to my girl's as Strawberry, Vanilla and Chocolate after reading an article about blogging) Anyhow, you should be able to tell who is who. I also realized that this is the last time I'll shoot the Strawberry without a shirt--she's just getting too big . . .wipe a tear.
Hoily cow-I have a 5 year old. Actually it's not that crazy, but I feel like it should be. She's turning out to be one fun kid. She's become very clever and witty and it's fun to watch her personality become more distinct. Anyhow, although she is fun kid, she is not a camera friendly kid. So these I think are the best I got. It wasn't exactly what I had in my mind, but I think they still turned out pretty cute. For some reason a lot of them are grainy. I think I bumped up my ISO, but I can't remember which ones I did that on. I think most people can't tell, but I can tell when I blow them up to full screen on my 24" . Tell me which is your Favorite. I also tweaked them on Photoshop, I just played with the levels and contrast. I'm still trying to get familiar with it
The girl loves books, you can always find her with a book somewhere and instead of sleeping with a doll or a stuffed animal she sleeps with a book. I was practicing indoor lighting, which there is not much of in my condo---grrr I'm ready for a house, anyway, these are the best I got. My shutter speed was so low even with a tripod they were blurry. It's pretty hard to get a 2 year old to be still. This is our all time favorite book.
